Day 1: Morning departure from Marrakech, Agadir, or Ouarzazate. Travel by private 4x4 with the Mélodie du désert team to Mhamid, the final village before the desert. Optional photo stops and breaks en route. Overnight in a fixed bivouac camp at the edge of the dunes.
Day 2: Start of the trek. After loading the camels, we head into the dunes on foot with our nomadic team toward Erg Sidi Naji. This site, marked by a mausoleum, remains a spiritual place for local families. Overnight in the dunes of Sidi Naji.
Day 3: Early morning start across a wide, arid plateau toward the majestic and remote Erg Zahar, also known as the “Howling Dunes.” This eerie and lunar landscape is one of our favorite places in the desert. Overnight beneath the towering dunes.
Day 4: The trek continues to Ait Ounir and a dune area called “Bora Bora,” near the seasonal wells of Oued Drâa. Possible encounters with nomadic herders or camel herds. Enjoy a peaceful evening and sleep under the stars.
Day 5: Final morning walk back to the fixed bivouac. Meet the driver and begin the return journey to Marrakech, Ouarzazate, or Agadir. Arrival in the evening, depending on road conditions and departure point.
All camping equipment, meals, and camel support are provided. The trek is suitable for all fitness levels with walking times of 3–5 hours per day.
